  • Our small business has long struggled with trying to support QBE. We ran it on a SBS2003 box but the cost with supporting it was prohibitive, the accountants didn't like to have one desktop powered up all the time, tried running the Linux port of the DB server but QB Linux support was so shoddy we eventually had to opt for a virtual XP machine. So I have one CentOS box running one virtual XP machine. Hardly optimal. . .

    QBE support built into ClearOS would be a great selling point and long term solution. ClearOS fits the small business niche with ease of use and TCO, adding QBE would be a dream come true.

    One issue I have run into in dealing with QBE DB server on Linux is that the supplied RPM on works properly on 32 bit machines not on 64 bit. All of our boxes are 64 bit.

    I'm eager to test this out.
