Hi all,
Firstly my thanks to Nick, who has been very helpful via email.
I genuinely wish there was a specific section for "clearOSHome."
Any stuck home user will look for one. At the moment, as there isn't one, you are presented with what feels like the largest forum index page known to man lol .
After that bewilderment has settled, you start to think about where you should begin to start given the sheer number of sections, so you have to resort to looking at the individual apps that you "think" are causing the issues. You then very quickly realise that each section presents very technical information and clearly more for the folks that are adept in CLI, and not those of us who come from the usual GUI driven platforms like PfSense.
Another Suggestion would be stickies for "where to start" this should include the three apps not to install if you are using Gateway Management in either variant. I am sure more will crop up.
Some issues are not in the "learn more" sections with vital information in the 'documentation' link, so you are now two links deep (when it could be and should be in 'learn more', in my opinion), and other information is buried in sales documentation which no one will ever find.
I hope this is the right place to ask. Thanks

Speak of the devil
Thank you for the honesty about the forums, I did see a post somewhere saying about the forums being updated and thought that this was the update 0.o
Thank you for the google search hint
I like the idea of clearOS and the company philosophy, but there are reasons that the home/homelab community settle elsewhere.
I just want to contribute in making things easier and more obvious to the demographic. This would seem to be a low hanging fruit one that should be easy to implement and removing some of the "Where do i put" headache and having effectively a noobies chat, would definitely make things more comfortable and add a feeling of acceptance, rather than some feeling stupid.
At the end of the day, more folk getting a better experience may drive more of that demographic to use clearOS which will naturally bring coders and more apps.
It's not about my three apps, its more about, making the experience as we brits would say "simple stupid".
Your great, but unfortunately they can't clone you fella -

I'm afraid the the forums are not good and long overdue for an overhaul. Also, for some reason there is a sub-category for every marketplace item which is way OTT and sometimes stupid (Kopano Basic and Kopano 5-User Pack). Searching is best done using Google and adding "site:clearos.com" to your search.
ClearOS Home is little different to ClearOS Community and ClearOS Business apart from a few different apps. Business has a slightly different directory model which supports Master/Slave and some apps are not made available to some versions (GM Home and Nextcloud Home are not available to Business users) and other minor differences. Also access to the stable repos.
FWIW there is no problem installing your three apps with GM (Proxy, Content Filter and Gateway AV), it is just that if you use the proxy, you will defeat one of the functions of GM as all traffic will appear to GM as if it comes from the Proxy so you won't be able to control devices through GM.
