Hello,
I installed a brand new ClearOs using AWS AMI and after adding app and updating everything using the clearos dashboard I can’t run Wordpress or Tiki.
It seems the default install installed a nearly outdated version of mariaDB - version: 5.5.64-MariaDB (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MariaDB)
1/ Was something went wrong or Why ?
(what reason to not install an updated version)
2/ How to upgrade properly ?
(I upgraded a few month ago on a different server and the MariaDB Database Server app is now unusable - but mysql 10 work)
Thanks !

Try stopping mariadb. It is probably using the same socket.
Thanks, this worked !
However it leaves me confused... (but that’s a bit normal, I’m not a real server admin ?)
I understand I had (have) more than one version of mariadb and the older one was running.
Now I started 10.3 and it’s good.
However how can I be sure it stays that way (if server reboot or...) ?
My services page show (see attachement) 2 mariadb.
I guess I still have to clean a bit.
Bernard
PS: To clean my repo I did (thanks for showing the way):
yum-config-manager --disable mysql56-community

Did you do step 3 of the install instructions? Also you've got a funny repo enabled (mysql56-community).
Yes Nick,
I re-follow each step and this is the output:

Thanks Nick and sorry for duplicate post.
I followed the instructions to fix my yum, work fine now. ??
I followed the instructions on the SCLO link and did a:
yum install rh-mariadb103
If I check from yum it seems that all should be good.
Package rh-mariadb103-3.3-5.el7.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
However everywhere I check it show 5.5.64.
# mysql -V

I restarted the server... same.
Now when I do yum update I got errors (seems mysql is involved now...)

Deleting your duplicate post.
I don't know what is wrong with your yum. I've done it a lot recently without problems:
So a straight:[root@microserver ~]# yum list rh-mariadb*

Should work. Installing it should not interfere with the ClearOS version but note the instructions on your SCLO link. Also note that I have never used this so I can't offer much guidance. I just knew of its existence.yum install rh-mariadb103

Thanks Nick for your help and sorry for the noob questions. ;-)
I followed the link you posted to : Software Collections from RHSCL
Plan A (red)
It took me sometimes but finally found this : https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/rh-mariadb103/
Is it what I should do to upgrade properly ?
yum install rh-mariadb103
I have the feeling that’s what I did on a different server were the MariaDB Database Server app is now unusable (from the dashboard).
---
Plan B (blue)
Following you second advise,The apps should be available from our repos in the same way as PHP 7.x is
I tried to check packages from the default installed repo but:
(I tried other command like"list" got the same results)yum search mariadb
error: rpmdb: BDB0113 Thread/process 3095/140224439965504 failed: BDB1507 Thread died in Berkeley DB library...
Googling, I landed at : https://pkgs.org/download/mariadb (what a jungle :-) ) and found (among many many packages) : rh-mariadb103-mariadb-10.3.13-4.el7.x86_64.rpm
rpm -i rh-mariadb103-mariadb-10.3.13-4.el7.x86_64.rpm
So... I cut the red wire or the blue wire ? ?????
Thanks again for your time -

I believe wordpress will run on 5.4. Certainly the versions available from the ClearOS Wordpress app can. If you want to install a later version alongside the ClearOS/Centos version, check out the MariaDB Special Interest Group here. The apps should be available from our repos in the same way as PHP 7.x is.
