ClearOS Server is still under active development!
Currently, the ClearOS Server Portal is being updated from the ground up. Peter, Ben, and others are working on this.
ClearOS Server development will leapfrog directly from Clear Server OS 7.x to ClearOS Server 9.x and skip the 8.x major release(s) completely, with the IBM acquisition of Redhat and surrounding noise, this was the best path forward.
ClearOS Mobile 10.x is under current active development and fully supported.
Please watch for continued updates.
Special thanks to those who add value for providing community support and seeing the value of the paid support and surrounding team(s).

Hi Michael,
Can you maybe enlighten us with details like a timeline?
And what happend last couple of years? How can you not give support and updates for so long. Stopping the backservice etc etc.
Also for paying customers.
You've mentioned that ClearOS is still under active development a couple of times now. Only to leave us with silence when there where replies.
The product ClearOS was amazing actually, but I need more than this to believe in the company behind is not pulling my leg for the so manyth time.
Don't get me wrong. I would love to see a new release, and even more important, the Critical CVE's patched.
I'd even be willing to spend time testing that new release. But I won't be paying for new subscriptions before I have some certainty that this won't happen again.
Have a nice weekend.
Cheers, Foeke -

It's great to hear that ClearOS Server is still under active development! The ClearOS Server Portal is currently being updated by a team led by Peter, Ben, and others. In terms of major releases like https://games.lol/fifa-soccer/, ClearOS Server development will be jumping directly from Clear Server OS 7.x to ClearOS Server 9.x, completely bypassing the 8.x releases. This decision was made due to the IBM acquisition of Red Hat and other related factors, which led to the conclusion that skipping the 8.x releases was the best course of action. -

I gota ask, will we be able to do a CLI or webbased upgrade or will this be a ground up rebuild ? -

I will be happy long before a new version comes out at all.
Since it has been quiet for a long time, I don't expect much more.
A great pity, because it was a good package -

Don't wanna sound negative, but I don't see a new version happen... To bad because it was a great server OS, and I used it with pleasure.

No. I don't expect it anymore either.
It was a great product and I certainly enjoyed the community and interacting with some Clear members and some forum members.
Unfortunately, Michael doesn't announce anything more so I guess COS7.9 was the last version.
Switch slowly over to other distros and one Nethserver 8 is a stable release i'll switch over the last packages -

I occasionally come back to the forum to see if there's any progress with moving forward with COS.
I am one of the many disappointed. It was a very good product. I have switched over to Nethserver after hearing about it on this forum. It's a real nice alternative to COS, with a good support staff and community forum (just like Clark Connect and COS used to be). Clark Connect is what got me into home and business gateway servers. I recommend Nethserver as an alternative, -

I am guessing that you are being cynical, no? -

That means somebody is active as moderator but don't want to have this topic visible or marked as important. -

I've recieved an email to renew my subscription and after 21 years activally involved with Clarkconnect and ClearOS i came to the conclusion to not renew and pay for my subscription or services any more. I've lost my faith in the management of COS and will move slowely to another distro.
I'll keep wathing on the forum and will try to help other users.
Thank you Micheal and all the best with the development of Clear -

This development talk all sounds like nonsense. Given the lack of critical updates, how can anything else be taken seriously? The fact speaks for itself. Do I get my last subscription payment back?
My needs are minimal now, and I just let MS host my mail. I really liked ClearOS, and used it about 15 years, but it is now time for me to just install a NAS and call it good.

I canceled my subscriptions over a year ago. If you pay for support and find out the support team has not been there for a while. How can I explain that to my end customers.
It's a shame Nethserver 8 isn't a drop in replacement like 7 was.
If ClearOS would get a reboot, I would test it right away. It had so many unique pros.
I can't believe it has gone the way of the Dodo because of lack of interest. Let's focus on the side projects. And forget the core. -

My subscription expired this month and I am not going to renew it.
I am not going to pay if there is no support or service, but neither am I going to pay someone to mismanage and leave their business untouched.
I agree that NS8 is not as good as NS7, but I will give it time.
I am currently running Nethsecurity as a firewall and gateway and this works fine.
At least on the forum, there is activity and support.
I am willing to pay for this or at least give my support.
Should there be future ClearOS even then I will no longer support this because the person who will make money from this is not worth it.
Besides, there is nothing in development yet so it will take at least a year before there is anything
I have been an active user for over 18 years and find it very unfortunate that it is being handled this way. -

I have given up. My COS servers were replaced with NAS appliances this weekend. I've cancelled all subscriptions. For those of you sticking around for a bit, you may want to contact Nick Howitt for his patching service. He can be contacted at: [email protected].
Thanks to many of you for your support over the years. No thanks to COS for taking my subscription money and not delivering services due under said subscription. Actionable, I'd say...

Thanks for mentioning Nethsecurity! I just totally missed that.
I've put everyone on Zentyal or Sharepoint. But I am not 100% convinced Zentyal is the way to go.
For some reason they don't like Beta testers, and things are stuck in 2010. No IP v6 support. And some weird bugs. If it runs, it runs, but I am not sure if they will last. But on the other hand, I would have had bought CLEAR foundation shares in 2018 if I had money laying around. So what do I know. -

I'm running Nethsecurity now for a few weeks and i must say that it is stable and the development and support are good.
This package is the most important for me because the other packages like email of nextcloud are easy with other distros to combine.
