If you use yum to remove packages be very careful. If it removes a bunch of dependencies you risk bringing your system down.

Have you looked in /var/log/messages and /var/log/system for any clues about the failure?

Also, from the command line, start the firewall in debug mode - "firewall-start -d"?

  • ClearOS v6.7: Last Update made Firewall Panic

    Dear All,

I have been using this machine since 2014 and yesterday this machine unable to connect to internet. Users di LAN unable to browse internet. I see there was content filter and antivirus update on 06.00 AM and made firewall panic. I have SSH console via putty and try to #service firewall restart --- but still no luck. Firewall failed to start.

How can I resolve this problem. What step to I have to do beside check system logs and message logs?
System only contain : Web Proxy and content filter. Also there is egress and custom firewall.

I think I want to reset the system by uninstall egress firewall, webproxy and content filter module, how to do that?
I have no reference that name the module is?
#yum webproxy remove -- something like that.
    #yum egress remove
    #yum contentfilter remove

    Any information is appreciated.

    Regards,
    Isal

  • ClearOS 7.2: Internet Browsing So Slow

    Dear All,

I've just upgraded my machine from ClearOS v6.7 Basic to ClearOS v7.2 Business. The settings are:
    - Web Proxy Installed with Non tranparent mode and No Authentication
    - Egress firewall installed: Block all, allowed this port: 80, 443, 993, 53, 465, 587
    - Incoming firewall open port: 81

I've installed it on sunday and browsing run flawlessly. However on Monday morning, panic happened. Users browsing activity was very slow. I have turn off virus filtering also deeply URL analysis also protocol filtering (egloo) but still internet browsing very slow.

I've also bypass everything in web proxy/content filtering like office365,com, avira-update.com, etc. But still web browsing still slow.
Web browsing run fast for a while when I click RESET CACHE button. But then web browsing run slow again.

Please advice me how do I solve this problem. is it make sense to disable PROXY CACHE?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Regards,
    Faisal
